Urine Sample Collection

Step 1
Collection Instruction

Patient should wash hands thoroughly with soap and water, rinse them, and dry them. Provided wipe should be used to wash the urinary opening and the surrounding area. Cloth should be discarded in the waste basket.

Step 2
Collection Instruction

Open the sterile cup without touching the rim or inner surface of the cup or lid. Void 20 -25ml into the toilet and catch a portion of the rest of the urine in the container without stopping the stream. Place the lid securely on the cup.

Step 3
Collection Instruction

Write the patient's name on the Urine V-Monovette tube, and transfer urine to the tube by pressing the end of the Monovette tube to the needle-stick in the specimen cup lid. Place tube in a specimen biohazard bag and place requisition in the side pouch.

Step 4
Collection Instruction

If region is experiencing hot weather, put a cold pack in the bottom of the kit box. Enclose the test kit in one of the Laboratory Paks provided and place a return shipping label on the outside of the pak.

Oral Fluid Collection

Step 1
Collection Instruction

Place the collector pad under the donor's tongue and instruct patient to close mouth. The patient must not chew or suck on the pad. Wait for the indicator window to turn blue and remove the collection device from the patient's mouth. Do not remove the collection device until the indicator turns blue.

Step 2
Collection Instruction

Holding the transport tube in an upright position, remove the cap, and insert the collector device, pad first, into the tube. If any of the buffer fluid is spilled, a new transport tube must be used.

Step 3
Collection Instruction

Push the cap firmly onto the transport tube until you hear a snap. Gently shake the tube to mix the saturated collector pad with the buffer. Write collection date on the security seal, peel the seal off the test request form and place it across the cap.

Step 4
Collection Instruction

Place the transport tube into the original outer packaging provided with the collector device. Place the collection device and top copy of the test request form in the supplied shipping pack or U.S. mailer box.
